Ras Al Khaimah is seeking to strengthen economic, trade and investment ties with Canada through a two-day visit of the new Ambassador of Canada to the UAE, where he visited several of the Emirate’s major companies and government entities for productive conversations with CEOs and key management figures, with a view to enhancing relations and finding areas of common interest.
During a recent trip organized by Ras Al Khaimah Chamber, His Excellency Ambassador Radha Krishna Panday and Consul General of Canada in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, His Excellency Jean-Philippe Linteau, discussed opportunities and synergies with Ras Al Khaimah Municipality; Ras Al Khaimah Government Media Office (RAKGMO); RAK International Corporate Centre (RAK ICC); Marjan; Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority; RAK Ceramics; and Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone (RAKEZ).
The collaborative visit also included a business luncheon at the Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah, with key Ras Al Khaimah stakeholders present.
His Excellency Mohamed Ali Musabbeh Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ras Al Khaimah Chamber, said: “The UAE is developing strong and effective partnerships with countries across the world, as part of the leadership’s vision to create a prosperous and sustainably developed nation where people thrive.
“Canada is a long-standing partner in this ongoing pursuit and Ras Al Khaimah is an important player in both countries’ efforts to further relations across a number of economic fields. We welcome the Canadian Ambassador’s visit to Ras Al Khaimah, which acts as a platform for developing deeper connections between our Emirate’s globally recognized businesses and their counterparts in Canada.”
H.E. Radha Krishna Panday, Ambassador of Canada to the UAE, said: “I’m thrilled to return to Ras Al Khaimah after serving as Canada’s Consul General in Dubai and the Northern Emirates over a decade ago. Now as Ambassador of Canada to the UAE, I’m very pleased to visit Ras Al Khaimah again and discover the many changes and advancements that have been made under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi. I was delighted to be received by His Highness at his palace again after so many years. We had a very fruitful and productive conversation, and I’m grateful for his efforts to bring such significant social and economic development to the people of Ras Al Khaimah. I look forward to identifying partnership opportunities for Canada and Canadians in the Emirate.
“Canada has a special relationship with the people and institutions of Ras Al Khaimah, as I remember fondly, and I’m very pleased to rekindle these relationships. I’m very grateful to Ras Al Khaimah Chamber for developing such a rich program of meetings, including with Ras Al Khaimah Municipality, RAKEZ and Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority. I was also thoroughly impressed with the accomplishments of RAK ICC and RAK Ceramics as I toured their facilities, and I was very impressed by the continued plans for Al Marjan Island.
“I was very glad to have with me Jean-Philippe Linteau, Canada’s Consul General in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, who after four years in the UAE has seen Ras Al Khaimah go through many impressive changes. I had a wonderful, productive visit, and I hope to be back soon with new partnerships for Canada and Ras Al Khaimah.”
Ras Al Khaimah is already home to more than 500 companies owned by Canadians, the majority of which fall under the umbrella of RAKEZ, the Emirate’s powerhouse business and industrial hub.
